What
is the Transformation Game?
The Transformation Game is a fun and powerful way of understanding
and transforming the way you live your life. It looks at the kind
of experiences you create, how you react to them, and how you
might change your responses to realise your highest potential
and achieve your purposes.
How
can it help us?
The
Transformation Game accurately mirrors your life and offers clear
feedback which can help you:
•
Gain greater self acceptance in understanding your stumbling
blocks and awareness of your own strengths
• Understand patterns of stress and change non-productive
habits.
• Clarify important personal issues
• Overcome depression and anxiety
• Resolve interpersonal conflict
• Explore and allow new possibilities in your life
• Handle transitions – health, career, marriage
or relationship changes
How
does it work?
The
Transformation Game is a board game for between 2-4 players.
When
we play the game we chose an intention or Playing Focus which
is an issue that we want to transform or understand and this provides
the backbone of our game experience. The game gives us the resources
to overcome our problems and achieve our goal. As we move along
our path on the game board and throw the die, the squares we land
on and cards we take, help us to resolve our issues and clarify
new directions to take.
There are 3 main card decks which are; Insights or positives qualities
that we need to reaffirm, Setbacks that help us see more clearly
the obstacles or blocks that stop us achieving our goal, as well
as the Angels or mentors that allow us to reflect on different
qualities that can help us in fulfilling our intentions. During
the Game you may explore your intention, moving up through different
levels; physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, depending on
where the key lessons for your growth lie.
The Background
The Transformation Game started life over 30 years ago as the
creation of Joy Drake and Kathy Tyler, who once lived in the Findhorn
community and are now based at Innerlinks in the States. The Findhorn
Foundation in Scotland is a major international centre for spiritual
growth and personal transformation and the Game is an integral
part of its personal growth programmes. Over time the Game has
evolved into a variety of formats and is now most widely known
as a commercially available board game. Even if you have played
the board game with friends, a trained facilitator using advanced
rules takes the experience much closer to its original roots.
The guidance and creative feedback of an accredited facilitator
brings a new dimension and depth to the Game.
The Workshop
Games for 1, 2, 3 or 4 players
There are various options available:
• Sign up to a game that I am organising (see Calendar)
• Form your own group with the option to play in your
home or in Vida y Despertar in Madrid.
• Try the Solo Game.
The
timetable varies according to the number of players but to give
you an idea, a 4 player game takes places over 1 ½ days
at a weekend.
FAQS
What are the intentions, can you give me an
example?
You
play the game with an intention or Playing Focus which is any
issue in your life that you want guidance on. Choose the issue
that is most important to you. Here are some ideas of intentions
that people have played.
• 'I intend to release my fear of intimacy'
• 'I intend to clarify which career direction to take’
• 'I intend to create greater financial prosperity'
• 'I intend to gain insight into the friction between me
and my partner'
• 'I intend to clear the stress related to my job'
• 'I intend to allow myself more fun in life'
• 'I intend to release what's blocking me from expressing
my creativity'
• 'I intend to take care of my physical body and address
health issues'
• 'I intend to release what's blocking me from committing
to a long-term relationship'
• 'I intend to gain insight into the dissatisfaction I feel
in my personal life'
Does it matter that I don’t know anyone in the workshop?
No, the idea of the preparatory evening is that everyone meets
each other before so that when we start playing the game, everyone
is more comfortable sharing their own experience.
Can
I play with my partner?
Yes, it can be very revealing to play with your partner and the
game creates a secure space in which to explore your issues that
can create greater intimacy and trust in the relationship. One
option is to play a 2 person game.
However,
if you not prepared to share completely honestly in front of your
partner, it would be advisable to participate in separate games.
I’m
not sure if I want to share my problems with strangers
Sharing is component that enriches your game experience and also
enables everyone to learn something from each other’s games.
However, it is the responsibility of each individual to create
their own boundaries of what they are willing to share.
You
mention Angel cards, I’m not sure about this?
The Angel cards and squares in the game provide a reflective space
for the player to go inward and connect with themselves and a
quality such as Peace or Abundance and does not require a specific
belief system. Many people connect easily with Angels and others
prefer to refer to them as Mentors.
My
experience as a Facilitator
It is an amazing experience to Facilitate games as every
one is different, reflecting our own uniqueness and mirroring
the lives and attitudes of all players. There are moments of joy,
pain and transformation as the players come to a greater understanding
of themselves and their world.
